# The Sharing Checklist (Chapter 14)

**Use when:** you are about to share a tool or bring a pattern to work.
Choose a shared location, check the data, and make the method usable by someone else.

## Optional: know the terrain

- [ ] If useful, I checked which tools the organization can supply or install.
- [ ] I found any information that helps identify sensitive records or contractual
conditions for the task. An employer's preferred-tools list does not establish
  a tool's privacy properties.

A silent policy does not tell you whether anyone considered your case. Your data
habits have to carry the decision. Use the Chapter 3 checks rather than guessing
from silence or waiting for permission to learn and build.

## Before sharing

- [ ] The shared location is one my colleagues already use and I can write to.
- [ ] I checked who can see the files. The instructions contain no sensitive records.
- [ ] Any real records used by the workflow pass the
[data-safety checklist](data-safety-checklist.md) for the exact account and services.
I recorded the setup with the [lockdown sheet](../templates/it-questions-email.md).
- [ ] There is one current version, a named owner, and a backup owner.
- [ ] The usage note explains what to do, what can break, and how to check the result.
- [ ] Every output stays a draft until its named human reviewer checks it.

Dana's question still helps: "What exactly will you put in?" Answer it for the
shared instructions, the data the workflow handles, and the people who can see both.
