# The Verify Checklist (Chapter 13)

**Use when:** a computer-use or browser-use run touches real systems. The verify pass runs before the next record, and nothing submits until it passes.

The failure mode you can live with is visible, loud, and cheap: a missed field the verify step catches in minutes. The failure mode you cannot live with is silent, and the verify pass is the only thing standing between you and it.

## Before the run

- [ ] The field map exists: source value, system, field name, format, for every field the run will touch. (templates/field-map.md)
- [ ] The source file is the master list of records, and it stays out of the chat entirely. Descriptions only.
- [ ] Credentials never go in the prompt, and the agent never types them. You log in, or your tool holds the session.
- [ ] Chapter 3 applies to screens: the checklist runs on what the agent can see, not only on what you paste. If a screen shows PII, the chore runs where training is off or it does not run.

## The verify pass, per completed record

- [ ] Row counts match across every system, every time. If a count is off by one, stop the run, not the record.
- [ ] Spot-check three fields per record against the source.
- [ ] The session log shows one line per entry, with timestamp and system.
- [ ] Nothing submitted until this record passed.

## At the end of the run

- [ ] Total record count matches total note count.
- [ ] A colleague could follow any entry back to its source.
- [ ] The flagged items are a list, not a mystery.
- [ ] The log would survive a stranger's read: timestamp, system, action, result, one line per entry.

## When something fails

Fix the map, re-run that one screen, and go back to your coffee. The new box appeared overnight, the map did not have it, and the verify pass caught it. That is the design working. Sam's first unassisted run caught one missed field with a count check, in eleven minutes; the fix was one map update and one re-run.

What done looks like: the run finishes in under a quarter of the manual time, the verify pass passes before anything submits, and you could walk away from the screen and come back to an exception list instead of a session to babysit.
