# Promotion Case

The Chapter 17 career folder: reputation follows artifacts, not announcements. The work you already shipped is your story. It needs organizing and teaching, not broadcasting.

## The Folder

```
[YOUR NAME] promotion case
  1. The QBR or your best artifact
  2. The before/after writeup
  3. The checklist or template you built
  4. The one-page story (below)
```

Rules:

- Shared copies carry shapes, never data, per Chapter 3. The folder holds artifacts you already delivered, not new exports.
- If a colleague appears in the story, ask them first.

## The One-Page Story

```
Headache: [What it used to cost. Two paragraphs: the before, honestly.]
Method: [What you did, in plain language. The describing muscle, not the tool names.]
What it costs now: [The after. Minutes, hours, or dollars, with the word estimate attached when it is one.]
```

## The Three-Sentence Version

For a hallway, an intro, or a review. Say it out loud until it takes three sentences.

1. [The headache, one line.]
2. [What you built or changed, one line.]
3. [What it costs now, one line.]

## Done Looks Like

- A stranger could understand your contribution from the folder alone.
- You can tell the story in three sentences out loud.
- One person has seen the folder this quarter. You are not asking for anything; you are showing the work.
- The folder is current, which means the QBR it holds is the one you just shipped, not the one from last year.
